The INFJ, also known as iNT in Cognitive Personality Theory (CPT), is a visionary and analytical type characterised by their dominant Introverted Intuition (Ni), agency Introverted Thinking (Ti), authority Extraverted Feeling (Fe), and oppositional Extraverted Sensing (Se). This combination makes for someone who explores the potential of internal representations across themes, driven by a desire for peace and harmony on a granular level.

Dominant Position: Introverted Intuition (Ni)

As the dominant function, Introverted Intuition (Ni) provides the INFJ with a broad and expansive perspective, constantly seeking new themes and conceptual information. This function excels at bringing concepts into harmony with themselves, ensuring a deep sense of internal unity and universality.

How it Feels: For the INFJ, Ni dominance means having a rich and expansive internal landscape. They are constantly exploring new ideas and themes, seeking to connect and unify various concepts into a coherent whole. This focus on internal clarity allows them to feel optimistic and positive about the broader system they are a part of.

Agency Position: Introverted Thinking (Ti)

In the agency position, Introverted Thinking (Ti) provides the INFJ with the ability to assume total control of their process, opinions, and worldviews. Ti is intensive and can be resistant to new information and opinions from others about how things 'are', ensuring that their internal frameworks remain logically coherent and refined.

How it Feels: With Ti as their agency function, INFJs can effectively manage and refine their conceptual frameworks, ensuring everything makes sense logically. They invest their ego in their ability to understand and control the nuances of their theories, making them meticulous and precise in their approach.

Authority Position: Extraverted Feeling (Fe)

Extraverted Feeling (Fe) in the authority position acts as a guiding force for the INFJ, instilling an inherent nobility and restraint. Fe ensures that their actions are aligned with social harmony and the well-being of others, even if it means suppressing their own needs at times.

How it Feels: Fe in this position can feel like a moral obligation to maintain social harmony. The INFJ may often find themselves acting in ways that support and uplift others, striving for a peaceful and cohesive environment. This function can also lead to feelings of resentment if their own needs are continually set aside in favour of others.

Oppositional Position: Extraverted Sensing (Se)

In the oppositional position, Extraverted Sensing (Se) serves as a delicate yet essential function. Se provides the INFJ with a cautious and expectant approach to the unexpected, ensuring orderliness by doubling down on personal boundaries that allow them to survive and stand firm even in chaotic circumstances.

How it Feels: Se in the oppositional position often feels like a subtle antenna into the world around them. While it can be a source of stress due to its sensitivity, it also provides valuable raw stimuli that help the INFJ achieve new and fresh insights as well as remind them of the larger world they are a part of. The sensitivity of this cognitive element often makes for a type gifted at energy conservation and the avoidance of burnout so long as they listen to their gut.

Cognitive Dynamics and Dip Functions

The INFJ’s cognitive dynamics are characterised by their ability to refine and maintain their internal concepts and frameworks through Ni-Ti. This type excels at creating a stable and reliable internal world, ensuring that their sense of self and understanding remains strong and consistent.

Dips:

NiTi - SiFi: Extending the holistic nature of internal concepts and universal perspectives by bringing them into a deeper sense of internal emotional harmony and boundaries. This dip helps the INFJ understand their role within a larger context and how their meticulous approach contributes to overall harmony.

NiTi - NeTe: Expressing the internal extensity of interests into the pursuit and trans-contextual exploration of these interests. This dip allows the INFJ to channel their refined concepts into practical and engaging activities.

SeFe - NeTe: Spurring results in the moment by engaging multi-tasking and more intuitive senses of how things fit together when there is a social need to 'act'.

Conclusion

The INFJ (iNT) is a natural theorist who excels at composing high-level concepts into a single universal system. Their dominant Introverted Intuition (Ni) drives them to create a vivid and expansive internal world, while their agency Introverted Thinking (Ti) ensures that their conceptual frameworks are meticulously managed.

The authority Extraverted Feeling (Fe) guides them towards social harmony, and the oppositional Extraverted Sensing (Se) provides a cautious watchfulness that keeps everything in order. Together, these functions create a personality that excels in high-level conceptual thinking and strives for a harmonious and unified understanding of the world.
